Haul – Fall 2016 Testing Block

The Haul

Here are the products I purchased to test from Sep 11-Dec 31, 2016. This was my first testing block underneath my purchase planning system, and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. All of these products have been tested and incorporated into my routine now, and I’m hoping to get some reviews going. Most of these products were purchased from RoseRoseShop.

NuFountain C20+ Ferulic Vitamin C Serum.
This one is a bit of a cheat because I didn’t purchase it specifically for this haul. I’ve already used it for a decent while, but it’s been out of my routine for a number of months. This bottle is actually quite old, which should raise red flags for anyone familiar with the instability of some vitamin C products. NuFountain’s formula, however, is ridiculously stable, and this serum has only degraded to a very pale champagne color. That tells me there’s plenty of unoxidized product left to use, so I’ve yet to toss this one.

I originally purchased this product because it’s pretty cheap as far as Vitamin C serums go, and the stability is a huge factor in that. I bought straight from NuFountain’s website using their buy 2, get 1 free deal that is standard in their pricing. It worked out to ~$20 CAD for each bottle including shipping.

Tosowoong Enzyme Powder Wash
I first heard about this product from Fiddy’s Review on FiftyShadesofSnail.com. I’d wanted to try out some cleansers that were more travel friendly, so powder format seemed like something interesting to try. I also wanted to return to a foaming cleanser, since my CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser was beginning to be a bore. I also purchased a foaming net to make sure I could adequately test its foaming power.

Skinfood Freshmade Apple Mask
I’ve been wanting to get into wash-off masks for a long time. I know there is a limit to how effective they can be, since the product can’t stay on your face for all that long. I don’t care. There’s something so pampering and spa-like to doing a mask, and I just need to have them in my life.

I had heard amazing things about a couple of Skinfood’s wash-off masks, so when they released an entire new line of them I was pretty much sold. I’m sure I will eventually test all of them, but I had to pick one to start. I chose hydrating because my skin always goes for that kind of thing, and apple seemed like a lovely scent to have in the fall months.

COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner
Nothing particularly special about the reasons for this purchase. I really just wanted to try out a pH-adjusting toner to see if they would increase the efficacy of my vitamin C, and I am well familiar with COSRX’s reputation. Seemed like a good bet.

Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Lotion, Serum, and Sleeping Pack
I really like green tea as a skin care ingredient. I love the smell, and I love the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Tons of people seem to rave about Innisfree’s green tea line, and these three products in particular. Obviously, I had to give them a try.

Other Products

IOPE Air Cushion in N21
I’m super fascinated by cushions, and before this I’ve never tried them before. It was a choice between this one and the Hera UV Mist cushion, and RRS didn’t stock Hera at the time I placed my order. I wanted to keep everything to one purchase as much as possible, so I went with the IOPE.

Innisfree Camellia Essential Shampoo
Like I said, I wanted to do my best to get this haul from a single shop, so I pretty much just browsed around on RRS until I found a shampoo that maybe kind of interested me. I like Innisfree, and I was curious about the scent of camellia, so in the cart this went.

Aritaum Nail Buffer Duo
I don’t anything at all for my nails, except clip them too short every 6 weeks or so. Whenever I see someone wearing nail polish, I’m always like ‘dang that looks awesome, I wanna paint my nails’. Problem 1: I no longer own any nail polish. That shit got KonMari’d away because, as I said, I literally never used them. It was like 3 shades anyway. Problem 2: I can’t just buy a buncha polish and jump into the habit of doing my nails. See above. I need to build a habit.

So what I do? I find the easiest, quickest possible nail grooming technique: buffing and shining. I was originally looking around for one of those 4 sided blocks on Amazon, but couldn’t find anything I liked. I actually didn’t end up getting this in my first haul, I bought this on Jolse with my second haul, because I didn’t end up introducing it until the last week of the testing block. I pretty much just glanced at what they had for nail products when I was deciding on my nail thing to get for block 2, saw there was a nail buffer, and added it to my cart. Not much deciding involved.

My plan is to work on my nails once a week, and I’ll be gradually introducing more advanced nail grooming products and techniques. One day I’ll be posting my nails on Pinterest. One day.

Tony Moly Peach Hand Cream, and Mini Berry Lip Balms in Cherry and Blueberry
Legit, I 100% bought these for the packaging. (Well, I know the peach cream is popular, which is why I got it first instead of a different fruit). My end game is to have a bowl of all Tony Moly fruits on my desk. It’ll be great.

Nature Republic Fresh Herb Acerola Body Lotion and Peach Body Wash
This was more of me settling for whatever was on RRS, because I really wanted some illi products but RRS doesn’t stock them. I like Nature Republic, so it seemed like an okay gamble.

Marvis Toothpaste in Classic, Whitening, Aquatic, Licorice, Ginger, Cinnamon, and Jasmine Mint
I first heard about this brand when Tracy from fanserviced-b talked about getting a tube of the Jasmine mint from Sephora on the SnailCast. I was immediately intrigued by such a non-traditional toothpaste flavor, so of course I had to try every single one. Like come on.

Tony Moly Shiny Foot Super Peeling Liquid
I wanted to try a foot peel because nothing sounded more glorious than peeling off all the skin off the soles of my feet. This is the most popular one that I know of, so it was a pretty easy buy. Note, this wasn’t a product for the ‘Wildcard’ category because for my first 2 hauls I had hands and feet as separate categories. This was originally my choice for the foot category.
