Review – illi Total Aging Care Cream Wash

After my disappointment with the last Asian beauty body wash I tried, I made the decision not to settle for whatever random thing I could find. I’ve been really taking the time to search around for products that interest me, especially when it comes to body care because most of the time I find body care to be horribly boring. Illi is a brand that focuses a lot on body care products, and I’ve heard great things about their Total Aging Care line. The Cream Wash and the Body Lotion from this line were my next picks to try and get excited about taking care of my body skin.

Review – Innisfree Camellia Essential Hair Oil Serum

Since I’m one of those people who really hasn’t used hair products, searching for products to try has been an interesting experience. I didn’t have any clue what my hair needed, whether it was dry or damaged or not, or what I should be looking out for in treatment or styling products. For the most part I still have no clue, so take everything I have to say here with a grain of salt!

I wanted to try a leave-in treatment to see if it would benefit my hair in any way, which would then help to shape my understanding of what my hair needs from the products I use. I chose to start with the Innisfree Camellia Essential Hair Oil Serum because it was cheap and I was familiar with the brand, and I had already tried the shampoo from the same product line. I know, this purchase was super inspired. /s

Review – Innisfree Apple Seed Cleansing Oil

Cleansing oils are probably my favorite products to use. There’s something about mushing around all your makeup after a day of carefully avoiding face contact that is therapeutic for me. There’s no harsh scrubbing with a wipe, no dragging cotton rounds over your skin. There’s only a relaxing massage all over to dissolve everything, and then all the dirt and sunscreen and makeup just rinses away. It’s so easy and it works so well. Innisfree’s Apple Seed Cleansing Oil lured me in with a promise of a juicy apple scent on top of everything I love about oil cleansers. Let’s see if it lived up to expectations.

Review – Innisfree Camellia Essential Shampoo

When it comes to hair care, I’m totally lost. My hair is super thin and straight, and I’ve worn it in a rather short pixie cut for a few years now. Having glorious long locks was never something I aimed to achieve before. Now that I have the aspiration of a curated, asian beauty inspired hair care routine, I have an extreme lack of direction for the kinds of products I want to try. Picking up this shampoo was a way for me to get my toes wet so I can start working on properly taking care of my hair and scalp.

Review – COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner

As many a skincare nerd will know, there are some types of products in which the pH is hugely important to the product’s purpose and effectiveness. BHAs, AHAs, or L-ascorbic acid serums are ‘pH dependent’, which means their effectiveness is altered by the pH of the product formulation, or by the pH of the skin they are applied to.

These products tend to perform better at a pH that is lower than the natural pH of your skin. Your skin’s pH hangs around 4.5-5.5, and the ideal pH for these products, such as Vitamin C, can be as low as 2.5. What ends up happening is that some of the effectiveness of these products is used up in the effort it takes to lower the pH of your skin to a suitable range. One way to resolve this is to use a pH-adjusting toner to do the grunt work of lowering the skin’s pH so that the pH dependent products can be more effective at what they do. This is the role of a product like the COSRX BHA/AHA Clarifying Treatment Toner.

Review – Innisfree Green Tea Sleeping Pack

With my skin being as dry and thirsty as it is, I tend to load up on a range of moisturizers and serums in my nighttime routine. After discovering asian beauty, I was introduced to a new product type that was designed for sealing in all those layers just before bed: sleeping packs. Innisfree’s Green Tea Sleeping Pack was my first ever experience with this type of product, and I’m overall pleased with how it turned out. I’m definitely on the path towards having a variety of sleeping packs in my skincare wardrobe, as this product sparked a desire to try out even more.

Review – Marvis Toothpaste Sample Pack (All 7 Flavors)

My primary goal with this blog is to discover great products for all around full body care and personal hygiene, and that includes finding fun ways to take care of my teeth. The most obvious thing to go for was to find toothpaste that wasn’t just some variation of ‘mint’ flavor. How lucky I was then to find a brand that carries a total of 7 different flavors (though only 5 of those could really be classified as non-mint), all of which can be bought together in a sample set.

I first heard of Marvis toothpaste when Tracy spoke about using the Jasmin flavor on the Snailcast. I was incredibly intrigued by a floral flavored toothpaste, and once I saw the variety of unique flavors Marvis carries I decided I needed to try all of them. Obviously I had to find out for myself which one is best. You know how it is.
